It is with anticipation and excitement that I become President of Kennebunk Portside Rotary Club. We are a small but mighty club and approach all projects and tasks with great enthusiasm! I am proud to serve this amazing group for the next year.

Our service projects have included the Little Free Libraries, celebration bags for the Food Pantry, beach clean-up, maintenance of Rotary Park at Beachwood Avenue and many more. We will continue to serve our community in these ways as well as with some new and exciting opportunities. One such opportunity is with Habitat for Humanity. Our club is currently identifying ways that we can support this organization locally.

We have recently partnered with Friends Forever International and will host our first group of International students this July. They will be joining us from Israel for a full day of activities that our Club has planned specifically for them. The day will conclude with our annual fellowship BBQ where the students will do a presentation of their adventures. We hope to make a lasting impression on these young adults that they will take back to share with their communities. The goal of our members is to build on the new relationship we have cultivated with FFI and offer more financial and hands-on support in the future.

With the uncertainty of today’s world, I believe it is important to make consistent contributions both locally and globally. What may seem like a small and insignificant act at first glance may gain momentum and make a huge difference to a community or organization over time. A small pebble can make a much larger ripple in the water. I challenge us all to find those small but consistent ways to contribute. Imagine if we all thru small pebbles into the pond, the ripples we could create!
